How does Responding in Peaceful and Positive Ways help create a positive school climate?

School Safety: RiPP is an accompaniment to an effective school safety plan. It enhances such a plan because it has been proven to decrease school disciplinary code violations for violent behaviors and to decrease student reported frequency of drug use, violent behavior, and fight related injuries.

Respect: RiPP has been proven to increase prosocial attitudes and peer support for positive behavior, to increase use of violence prevention resources, and to increase student and staff reports of quality of life.

Rules: RiPP reinforces existing school rules and, because it promotes positive models of communication and achievement, it makes it easier for staff to apply rules fairly and consistently.

Caring Staff: Since RiPP increases school-wide positive attitudes towards non-violence; it makes it easier for teachers to demonstrate the care for students that took them into teaching in the first place.
